It means different things to different people, but in general it's the stuff you carry with you to be prepared. To me, this usually includes a pen, paper and a pocket knife.
THE EDC SERIES
There are three models, I hope you find one that works for you.

The pen may be mightier than the sword, but now you don't have to choose and can carry both in one simple package.
The smallest dual pen/knife case, this one is sized specifically for the Fisher Space Pen Bullet, and it also fits the Kaweco Liliput fountain or rollerball pen.
This works great with Great Eastern Cutlery traditional slip joint knives: patterns 14, 15, 55, 66, 77, 83, 85 and also Victorinox Farmer & Cadet, Chris Reeves Mnandiand many others.

Larger size, same idea.
This will fit small to medium sized pens up to about 14mm in diameter and 125mm in length. A little longer will work, it will just poke out the top a bit.
All of these are a great fit: Machine Era brass pen, Smooth Precision Pens Bolt Mini (my favorite), Fisher Space Pen Cap-O-Matic, Baron Fig Squire, Parker Jotter, Karas Customs EDK, Tactile Turn Shaker, Caran D'Ache 849, Kaweco Sport.

This holds a Fisher Space Pen Bullet or Kaweco Liliput pen, your small pocket knife (up to about 3.75" closed), and a AA or AAA flashlight. It was designed for everyday carry and is comfortable in a pants pocket or bag.
